The TTHUB turntable offers a fresh perspective on vibration control, isolation, and adaptability.
TTHUB designer Michael Osborn has been part of the hi-fi industry for a number of years. But his genius effort is the new TTHUB turntable, which is built in Oxfordshire UK.
The TTHUB has both a plinth and sub-plinth that are isolated from each other. The lower main plinth contains the main bearing, which the upper sub-plinth accommodates the aluminum tonearm mounting board.
Both the plinth and sub-plinth are made of bamboo plywood in a constrained-layer construction. This arrangement provides superior vibration and resonance control. Also provided is an isolation board with silicone feet and tuned, compliant shoes on the top of this isolation board that the spike feet of the TTHUB fit into.
The self-lubricating sintered bronze main bearing is also a superior design. This bearing uses a Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) base, which is a high-performance thermoplastic polymer that is known for its chemical resistance, mechanical strength, and thermal stability. This runs on a sapphire thrust bearing. The bearing housing is composed of thick-walled aluminum.
Power is supplied by an outboard unit that regulates current with a quartz clock regenerator and has fine adjustment of speed for both 33.33 and 45 RPM. It is accurate to within 0.003%. The outboard ultra-quite motor provides additional resonance control.
The platter is made of black acrylic with a bonded isolation layer of durable foam for the record to sit on. The platter rests on an aluminum sub-platter, which is driven by the belt from the outboard motor. This arrangement provides one last step of isolation.
Aluminum armboards, as well as SME slider adapters, are available for nearly any 9 inch, 10 inch, and 12 inch tonearm ever made. They are available for all of the tonearms that Osage Audio Products sells.
The TTHUB is available in both natural and dark red finishes. Bamboo plywood is by nature multi-density. Because of this, some changes in density along the edges of the plinth can be visible and appear to be imperfections. This is a natural occurrence and this also makes each plinth unique.
